FAQs

Are you a non-profit organization?
No. We made a choice to not become another non-profit agency, and to remain a network of partners instead. Our fiscal sponsorship for grants so far has been through the generosity of partners like Western Maine Health and Oxford County Mental Health.

What’s the relationship between Healthy Oxford Hills and the Oxford County Wellness Collaborative?
Healthy Oxford Hills (HOH) is one partner of the Collaborative’s many partners. It is the current administrative home of the network--meaning that Collaborative staff work out of the HOH office. However, HOH doesn’t set the direction for the Collaborative. This is done through conversations with all of our partners on what matters most to everyone working towards making Oxford County healthier and stronger.

Why aren’t you working on other areas of health?
The community initiatives that OCWC currently supports address issues that the county-wide community has told us are important to focus on:

a) a root cause of poor health (isolation/disconnection/not feeling valued)

and

b) one or more priority health areas (obesity, behavioral health, Adverse Childhood Experiences)
