Join us at the Semiannual Gathering on October 23!

Please join us on Monday, October 23 in Bethel for the chance to give voice to your concerns for our elected officials, and to learn how to use your voice more effectively to support health and wellness.

Rebecca Boulos from the Maine Public Health Association will provide us with a Public Health Advocacy 101 training. Together we will gain an understanding of critical public health issues facing the state as well as tools for effective advocacy.

We’ll provide a delicious and healthy dinner for all attendees and give members a chance to network and catch up.

Following this, Maine Equal Justice Partners (MEJP) will host a listening session—they want to know what issues concern us most in Oxford County. MEJP works primarily in the areas of Housing, Food, Health Care, and Income Support, and is a strong voice in Augusta to represent Mainers on these issues. This is a great opportunity to name our concerns here in rural western Maine.

Please note that this event is not intended to advance any particular agenda. It is meant to build our ability to use the power of our voices to speak up for what matters to us, and we recognize that this will be different for different people. Both the Maine Public Health Association and Maine Equal Justice Partners will be there to help, but not to influence the priorities of our many partners.

This gathering will be a great opportunity to make our voices stronger and our concerns known, and I hope you’ll join us. As usual, we’re happy to provide free childcare for the evening and we can also help with transportation costs. If you’d like to take advantage of either, please be in touch with Emily by placing a confidential call to 739-6222.
