Maine Families Community Educator

The Family Services Department at Community Concepts is excited to announce an opening for a Community Educator position for the Maine Families program of Oxford County. The role of the Community Educator is to implement strategies to prevent, address and reduce child abuse and neglect in Oxford County. The Community Educator will provide resources, support, and facilitate programs for groups and individuals as appropriate to increase self-sufficiency and family resilience, while assisting with documentation, tracking and reporting data related to program and client activities. This position is 40 hours a week based in our Norway office. Will require travel throughout Oxford County. Use of personal vehicle is required, with agency mileage reimbursement. Typical hours are between 8:00-4:30; however, a flexible schedule is required to accommodate community, program, and agency needs. Qualifications: Associate’s degree in education, social work, health care or related field required, Bachelor’s preferred.

Other Requirements: Must have working knowledge of early childhood mental health theories and practices. Candidates must be team oriented and present competencies in practical decision making and problem-solving skills; have proven demonstrated skills of facilitating and training diverse groups; successful experience working and training adults. Pre-employment SBI, DMV, DHHS, sex offender registry and federal debarment background checks must be completed upon offer of hire and as a condition of employment. Must have the following: a valid driver’s license; telephone; computer/word-processing skills, preferably Microsoft Office; ability to function autonomously and as part of a team. Comfort in electronic charting a plus.
